I'm so glad to announce that I'm one of the winners of the HISS and a ROAR Sound Design First Challenge organized by Tim Prebble.

I'm a big fan of this guy who just have the life I'm dreaming of.

Working for himself, travelling around the world, recording sounds, taking photo and shooting video…

The challenge was to make the sound of a short muted video using only a few noise sources taking from HISS and a ROAR new library Noise Source (white noise, pink noise, etc).

Difficult constraints but very rewarding exercice. I think it's in this kind of situation that we learn the most.

You can hear the result below and read Tom P...

Hey Guys!

I'm so glad to publish the first post of my new blog. Actually it's also my first blog ever so the pleasure is doubled!

My blog will be a free space of expression for myself. There is no limit about the content BUT…

…mostly, I'm going to talk about sound.

Why?

Because sound is my passion, in the broadest sense of the term.

The art of sound is the art of modesty.

It seems to me it refers to the most suited sense for making us feel part of a whole.

By overwhelming us, the sound places us in a space, a moment, consisting of an infinite number of elements without which nothing would be.

It makes us conscious of what is.

I will talk about field re...

Soundseeing is the result of a collaboration with Jantana Hennard during my studies at the University of Montreal.

It's my first experimentation exploring the relation between sound and picture.

We used Ableton Live and Processing with the Minim Library by Damien Di Fede and Anderson Mills.

For the visual I'd work on Lissajous Curve used in an aesthetic way and some other sinusoïdal experimentations.

I specify that I have basic skills in programmation so it was a lot of tries and errors.

Here is an extract of the result:

And here you can find a little PDF document about the project (in French)

Short composition for wind quintet: flute, oboe, bass clarinet, french horn and bassoon.

In this one, I tried to explore polyrhythms and the notion of strates by the different instruments.

It's kind of mimics the gesture of acousmatic music diffusion with faders movement who reveal and hide some parts of the piece.

Composed in 2015.

You can download the score here.

Short composition for chamber ensemble: flute, violin, viola and cello.

I tried to explore different textures, colours, playing modes and I wanted to cross written music with improvisation.

Composed in 2015.

You can download the score here.
